Hester Perrine Walker was the daughter of Dr. Henry Perrine who brought his family from Illinois to Indian Key, Florida. He received a land grant in that area for a company called Tropical Plant Co. This journal is the diary of Hester Perrine Walker memories of the massacre that killed her father by the Seminole Indians. Her mother & rest of her family escaped. This journal was written in 1885 for her grandchildren.. It contains biographical information on her family as well as a detailed account of the massacre as well as a hand-drawn plan of the Perrine house.
