Collection consists of an auotgraphed photograph of Jefferson Davis taken by F. A Roswall of Macon Mo.. Attached to photo is a ballot for Confederate State of America dated November 5, 1861 from the State of Lousianna. A letter with 1 sheet folded has writing on 1 side that was written from Gainesville, Florida dated May 16, 1878. Dawkins writes to ex-Florida Governor James E. Broome in New York. It is a letter of introduction for Benjamin Putnam Calhoun, son of Kate Putnam who married John C. Calhoun's son. Benjamin Putnam Calhoun, an attorney, was moving to New York where Governor Broome was living.
A two page typed letter with letterhead of Depatment of State, Washington. It is addressed to Honorable J. Hardin Peterson of the House of Representatives. It acknowledges Hardin's letter about the Pan American Exposition to be held in Tampa in 1939. Senator Trammel introduced proving U.S. participation in the Exposition.
There is also a slip stating the number of days Judah P. Benjamin, rebel Secretary of State, was absent from the Senate during the month of January, 1857.
